The UK produces and exports a wide range of agricultural and other primary goods, manufactured goods and services.  Often based around membership of the EU single market, the UK has actively taken its place in globalised supply chains.  The UK’s exit from the EU will therefore be likely to cause disruptions to its trade with Europe and the wider world.  And whether or not the UK remains in the Customs Union, or is ‘aligned’ with it, new arrangements will be required for services.
